Emergency & Disaster Management
As a Registered NDIS provider Aspire Options has established robust procedures to support cohesive planning to prepare, prevent, manage and respond to emergency and disaster situations while mitigating risks for participants through service continuity.
In November 2021 a new Practice Standard was implemented by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission for Emergency and Disaster Management in response to the impact the COVID pandemic and recent natural disasters such as bushfires and flooding events have had on service continuity and risks for people with a disability.
The new NDIS Practice Standards and amendments to the Quality Indicators are outlined in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Provider Registration and Practice Standards) Amendment (2021 Measures No. 1) Rules 2021 (Amending Rules), and the National Disability Insurance Scheme Legislation Amendment (Quality Indicators) Guidelines 2021 (Amending Guidelines).
Aspire Options has developed a comprehensive Emergency and Disaster Management Plan for the organisation that outlines its commitment to maintaining services and supports for participants with a disability whilst also detailing how it will respond in the event of an emergency or disaster to support service continuity.
Aspire Options will complete Risk Assessments with participants as a means of preparing, planning, preventing, mitigating and managing risks in a proactive and reactive manner to support health and wellbeing and service continuity for people accessing our services.
